Project Kesher Travel Grant Program Sends Ukrainian Eye Doctor to Professional Conference

Thanks to Project Kesher Ukraine and its Women’s Opportunity Fund travel grant program, Sofia Pavliv, an ophthalmologist and eye surgeon from Lviv, recently attended and spoke at the Middle East Ophthalmology Meeting (MEOM) in Dubai. As one of only two Ukrainian speakers at the conference, Sofia presented a clinical case on an eye injury caused by an explosive device, highlighting one of the ways her expertise can be utilized in the midst of the ongoing war.

The MEOM conference provided Sofia with access to the latest advancements in ophthalmology through a variety of sessions, hands-on trainings and live broadcasts of surgeries. Sofia now plans to apply the knowledge she gained in her medical practice and share her experience with fellow doctors, interns and students. The Women's Opportunity Fund continues to support women professionals like Sofia by offering travel grants that enable them to pursue important opportunities for continued education, professional development and networking.
