Marking Pride Month, PKI Trains Coordinators to Better Help LGBTQ Immigrants
As PKI welcomes Pride Month, it recognizes that Israel’s Russian-speaking LGBTQ population continues to face significant emotional and mental health challenges—the result of discrimination, societal barriers, the war with Hamas and more. Per its mission, the organization helps address these issues through various high-impact programs, including intensive professional trainings that help its team members give their very best to this community.
To illustrate, PKI recently convened a seminar for its regional coordinators featuring presentations by Ella Berchansky, a clinical psychologist; Anna Talisman, head of PKI’s LGBTQ program; and Rabbi Olya Weinstein, CEO of PKI. Together, these experts led discussions and collaborative workshops on such issues as identity struggles, compounded trauma and the experience of being part of a marginalized community. Participants left the seminar with a strengthened ability to make a meaningful, positive difference in the lives of those identifying as LGBTQ, right in time for Pride.
