A Purim Celebration of Courage and Community

In a heartwarming pre-Purim gathering, LGBTQ participants from all seven Project Kesher Israel (PKI) groups came together in Tel Aviv to celebrate not only the holiday but also themselves—freely and without fear. The evening took an unexpected turn when the local LGBTQ coordinators surprised program head Anna Talisman with heartfelt words about PKI’s life-saving impact on LGBTQ immigrants and refugees.

For many, this was the first time they could truly celebrate Purim in an open, accepting space. The night was filled with learning, as rabbinic intern Michal Kireev shared insights on the Scroll of Esther and Talisman reflected on the program’s achievements. A festive costume competition, lively music and spirited dancing made it an unforgettable night of resilience and joy.
