PKI’s LGBTQ Group Kicks Off in Jerusalem
Project Kesher Israel (PKI), in partnership with Jerusalem Open House, officially launched its LGBTQ group in Jerusalem on February 27th. The event marked a historic moment as the first dedicated space in the city for LGBTQ Ukrainian- and Russian-speaking immigrants. Jerusalem Open House will serve as a hub for the group’s activities and support its growth by training its coordinator, Michal Kireev, who is serving as the rabbinic intern of PKI CEO Rabbi Olya Weinstein.
The inaugural meeting, held last week, was a resounding success, bringing together Israelis from various backgrounds. PKI shared its vision for the group, introduced participants and outlined plans for future initiatives. Speakers included Rabbi Weinstein, PKI’s LGBTQ Program Director Anna Talisman and David Flosser, the director of Jerusalem Open House. Participants also discussed preparations for Jerusalem’s upcoming Pride Parade in June and examined PKI’s research on LGBTQ immigrant experiences.
