Jewish Life and LGBTQ Inclusion in Israel
A new LGBTQ group in Ramat Gan held a profound and engaging discussion about Jewish traditions, marriage and divorce in Israel. The session examined the intersection of religion and state, highlighting the variety of egalitarian Jewish ceremonies available to LGBTQ individuals.
For the participants—many of whom were newcomers to Israel—this was an eye-opening introduction to the possibilities of Jewish engagement in their new home. PKI’s extensive programming in Jewish education laid a strong foundation for the conversation, inspiring newcomers to explore ways to connect with liberal Jewish life in Israel. The group’s motivation and curiosity served as a powerful reminder of the resilience and hope that characterize the immigrant experience.
